All contact surfaces are vitally important to the function of a reloading press –as they are for any tool, be it a rifle or a wrench. The die mounting positions must be exactly perpendicular to the ram’s axis of force, perfectly positioned in relation to each other, and directly above each of the rotating stations of the press.

Once the dies are mounted just right in relation to each other on the toolhead, they will only be as precise as the toolhead’s fit in the press. The mounting flange around the toolhead that engages the frame of the press has to be machined to ensure that it keeps the toolhead itself in the correct position in the press.
